PALB II

PALB II was the second robot we built for RoboCup. We played with it in the 1on1 league at the World Championsships in Bremen in 2006.

History

Through a bad happenstance, the whole Electronic of the real PALB II burned out a few days before the World Championsships started. So the PALB II we used for the competitions was less-than-ideal...which you can probably see on the picture.

  • Omnidirectional Wheels
Dribbler:
  • Mouse wheel
Ball Identification:
  • 8 Infrared Sensors + 1 Light barrier
Orientation:
  • 3 Sharp Infrared Distance Sensor

Software

Also our Software was messed up. PALB II followed the ball, orientated a little with the distance sensors and shot -in the end really reandomly- if it thought that it saw a goal...

Success

We played with it in the 1on1 league at the World Championsships in Bremen in 2006 and even if PALB II only was a stopgap, we did well with it. We came into the finals were we were beaten by the World Champions.
